[Review] Senran Kagura : Peach Ball (Nintendo Switch)

Sometimes I feel like a degenerate that has hit rock bottom, the lowest of the low. So let's review the newest game in the Senran Kagura series , Peach Ball.

Peach ball , I didn't think I would need this game in my life, but I was sorely mistaken. Senran Kagura Peach Ball takes all of what makes Senran Kagura great, while removing the hack n slash gameplay in favour of pin ball mechanics.

Honestly at first, I didn't think it would be enjoyable, however I kept playing to enjoy and experience the delightfully ecchi mini games inbetween and to beat my own high scores.

The story is nothing to call home about , it's pretty much your standard Senran story but this time it's with a handful of characters. They make reference to other characters and events in the universe, meaning that this game wasn't intended for new comers to Senran.

As fun as the pinball gameplay is I've noticed that there is alot missing in this game. As there is no shinobi transformations , there is no ability to change costumes mid game , as it was in previous games.

The shop is missing our favourite shop keeper and best girl Ayame. There is also no gatcha elements such as the Card unpacking from PBS or the Panstu lotto system from Estival and Shinovi Versus.

The visuals in this game are simple yet fantastic. Although I would have liked to see more stages based off estival/shinovi locations. One of my favourite parts of the game is the beautiful key art; with the characters dressed up as animals. The music is stonking, there are times where I want to finish a level quickly so I can listen to that sweet sweet saxophone tune. This game has one of the best OSTs a senran kagura game has seen!

As a summary this game isn't for new comers, to truly enjoy this game you would need to play the rest of the games, to understand the characters, their origins and the fan service.

If you are a fan of the series and own a switch this is a definite pick up.

Got to give this game a 7/10 not what I was expecting but a good way to spend time while you wait for a main line senran kagura game.
